I had some mechanical work done on my 2000.
The mechanic disconnected the battery as a safety issue. Since then the fuel readouts are crazy. MPG is a low number and keeps going up as you watch it even if not at speed. It acts like a timer rather than a fuel readout. The same for range and average. It is almost like it has no reference at all. The mechanic says that a will take many miles for the computer to normalize. Has anyone experienced this??;shrug

It sounds like it is just reset from 0. That would make sense since the battery was disconneted. If you don't reset the thing manually, then it avgs and current are based off of all of the miles in the system. I occasionally reset mine (about every fifth tank or so) just to make sure I'm getting current, accurate results. Or at least as close as it can come.
