Went to start the Vette yesterday it hadn't been started for the past 2 wks and the battery was dead. Traced the problem to the fuse that is marked theft near the top left of the fuse panel.

When I checked the shop manual there is nothing in the electrical section about this perticular fuse . It says that the anti-theft system runs off the CTYS CLK fuse.

Is there another part of the theft sys. that comes off this fuse. I have the fuse pulled and all electrical seems to be working ok.

If this is for the theft sys. I will just leave it out as it doesn't work
anyway.

Check Radio, CTSY-CLK, and THEFT fuses also the "starter interupt relay" located near the controller. Can you tell if the system is armed? Have you tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting to see if it will reset once the battery is charged. You could try to set off the alarm to see if is working. Just a thought.

I'm amost positive the 1980 didn't have the "Starter Interrupt" it didn't come out until 1981..

Need to find a 1980 GM Shop Manual.. for the correct fuse layout and the schematics and wiring diagrams..

I just took a chance and went through my 82 shop manual. Looks like they may have changed quite-a-few thing in 82.

Thanks for the response but I checked the shop manual and it doesnt show this as part of the theft system. I am just going to leave the fuse out for now until I get a chance to trace the wiring.

Drove from ST Louie to my sister-in-laws in Mt. Vernon ID on Sat. and all electrical seems to be working fine.

Great site and really appriciate the help.
