Gas

My understanding is you can burn any old stuff but keep in mind the knock sensor will just keep retarding the spark to avoid knock.
Performance, however, will suffer. Your choice. Do I have it right?

jbolanowski..... did you get that memo??

yeah...

it's just that, we're putting the new cover sheets on all the TPS reports now....

and i'll make sure you get another copy of that memo....

and vinny, keep in mind that any old fuel can pre-detonate and cause sever engine damage... the mixture, although not an ideal gas, follows PV=mRT... an increase in pressure (like in high compression engines) yields a proportinal increase in temperature.. the fuel can begin burning before it is supposed to - the colliding flame fronts (one caused by the spark and one by this pre-ignition) causes temperatures in the combustion chamber to sky rocket.... you can melt a piston this way, or possibly just burn a hole through it...

true, a retarded spark will cause reduced performance, but this is not ordinary knock i am talking about here.... for reals, i think sticking with the manufacturer's recommended fuel fill is best...

Have you seen my red stapler?
