Was the 3:07 ratio an option in 81 for an automatic? In looking at my owners manual it shows the2:87 standard, but the 3:07 as an option for the auto. Am I reading this correctly? Maybe this is the G92 RPO code referenced in the Black Book?

I thought the 2:87 was the only gear for a auto and the taller gear was for the 4 speed but someone here can set us both straight I hope.

"G92" has commonly been the RPO code for "performance axle ratio" with automatic transmissions, however, the actual ratio varied depending on model year.

If any of you guys have your owners manual look on page 7-3. It gives ratios and options, but shows the 3:07 standard with the 4-speed and an option for the auto, but down below it shows it to be 2.72 for the manual and 2.87 for the auto. What am I missing?
