Can anyone tell me what gear ratio would have came in a early 77, L48 with TH350 trans. Car mfg. Nov. of 76 and has some 76 parts( steering wheel) I think it may be a 3:38 but not sure, about 2400 rpm @ 55 & 2750 @ 65.:confused :confused

the ratios offered in that year are...
3.08-3.36-3.55-3.70..probably the 3.36 or 3.55 with the rpm-mph info you provided.

It's probably a 3.36 as where my '78 L48 is just that. But maybe they did change the combination. Hmm..I'm not sure if there is a sure-fire way to find this out. Is there?

Thanks for the info, from what I can tell at www.smokemup.com it has to be something around the 3:30s range . So 3:36 is probably it. Thanks again jw

You could always do it the other way ....
put the car on jackstands and the trans in N put a small mark on the Dshaft and rotate the tire and count the rev on the Dshaft per one rev of the wheel.

Now that sounds simple enough, I think I can handle that.
Thanks jw
