Gear Rattle C5

Just purchased a new C5 in June of 2002. Car has excessive gear rattle below 1000RPM. Dealer teels me it is normal any solutions out there or in fact is there some other problems?

Hey there, I too was "rattled" by the noise coming from my tranny when I picked up my car. However, after watching the owner's video that came with the car, none other than the chief engineer of Corvette said it is a normal sound for the 6-speed tranny due to its design (he did not get into specifics). At that point the video cut over to a 'vette starting from a standing start and it made the exact same noise as my car did. So, don't worry, it is a normal sound.

One thing comes to mind though. If the noise is normal, how are we supposed to tell when something is not right in the tranny?

Hi there,
This is classified as normal, due to neutral gear clearancing within the transmission.
I would be more concerned if I did NOT hear this rattle.
