I have a 95 Vert with auto trans. The shifter works fine but the orange indicator does not move off of park no matter what gear it is in. Is this a difficult fix?

On my '89 it wasn't hard to get to. I replaced the "neutral switch" and when I put it all back together the damn thing just sat there. Had to tear it all back apart. It's a little piece of plastic that fits into a small hole at the end of the shifter and moves back and forth with it. It might have just popped out. You have to remove the shift knob to lift the console plate high enough to get to it. Not sure on a '95.

#28 is what your looking for. GM part #10146437 Hope this helps a little.....:w

shift indicator

Had the same thing.
Remove the padded console lid first. Note that it has some 'seating' guides so upon reassembling you can get it just right.
Under the carpet of the console interior (front) there are a few screws to remove. Then another under the ash tray/ cup holder area (this screw was missing on mine but a post here on CAC helped). Then the shift cover will pull up at the back and slide enough to reach the indicator. It helps to take the gear out of park.
