I need to change the bulbs in my fog lamps. How do you get to them? Like I've said before I'm not mechanical, but I usually can handle changing bulbs and simple things. Thanks everyone for all your input so far.

If they're like my 86, the bulbs are attached to l-o-n-g sticks with thumbscrews on the end. Open the hood and look down just to the sides of the air cleaner/radiator area. You'll see something that looks like the knob to open your fusebox. I'm doing this from memory, but I believe you turn it and pull and then detach the electric wires - but I might be backwards. Anyway, you get at them from under the hood at the very front of the engine. If you're still stuck tomorrow, I can snap some pix of the area and highlight things.

Hey Rich, I've been waiting for one of the owners of the later year C4s to chime in here, because the Vettes around John's years have an access panel (trap door or something) under the front bumper. Since I don't have one of those years, I couldn't be of much help to John. :o

Thank you Ken and Rich:) :) for your input. This is a wonderful and helpful site. Sure enough my 93 has access doors under the front bumper under each light. Before I started this thread I had found the doors and opened them but did not see the bulb sockets.:duh However, it was getting dark and upon examination this afternoon I did find the sockets. :J I changed the fogs to Xenon bulbs. We'll see at dusk if there is a noticable change in the brightness. I'll let every know the result and if I am pleased or not.

I'd love to hear what your results are, and also if you have any heat problems. Are the Xenons the same wattage as stock? In my other cars, I've swapped out the stock bulbs for higher-wattage ones (both headlight and fog light) but occasionally gotten a melted harness for my trouble.

i'd be interested in those bulbs also!

Thanks,

The new Xenons are brighter than the stock fogs.:cool They are 37.5 watt fogs and the supplier I bought them from said that they will not melt the harness. So far I am pleased with them.:) I purchased them on E-bay from clasperformance, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1871294470 They were very reasonable, shipping was a little steep. The total package was still reasonable and I figured I had little to loose by trying them out.

Might you remember what 'style' bulbs they are? I usually order my higher-wattage Subaru stuff from Gene at Competition Limited (http://www.hioutputbulbs.com/compt.htm). He has fairly decent prices, great product, a warranty, and quantity discount. If he has the bulb...

Last time I replaced a Vette fog light bulb, I did not recognise what type it was and actually had to ask the parts-store salesdroid for help.
