was there glass t-tops in 74 or can I use newer tops, I know the newer tops use a different latch but will they fit without alot of changes, are there any after-market tops offered anywhere.

Hopefully, someone with direct knowledge will chime in.

I looked into glass t-tops for a 71 coupe I had but did not follow through. I don't remember the details, but recall the newer factory-type glass t-tops would fit with very minor modification to side latches. The factory-type glass tops are expensive but their fit & quality are the best. Originality was not an issue with me, but even then, anecdotal evidence indicated I would Not have been satisfied with aftermarket such as "moon roof" & "astro top".

Stock T-Tops on '74 were Fiberglass... there was no other option... Fiberglass T or Convertable for '74.

The aftermarket Glass tops, smoke, mirrored etc... are designed to fit 76 and up with no mods accounting for only one latch mechanism. I do not know details of the mod, but I believe it has something to do with locking the other latch area to the T-top somehow.

Hope this helps.

I believe the tops you are looking for are called saragtoga tops, they were after market. They do let heat in the interior, (it's only problem durring summer), they leak like a Sum***** (so do the factory tops) the tabs that insert into the cross bar are plastic so they break from time to time (I have found a couple of metal ones over the years)

They look very 1970's! Mine are gold tinted glass with the edges painted yellow to match the car.

A quick look on ebay revealed!

I can't believe there is a set for sale! I'm not the seller I swear! These were god awfull expensive 35 years ago, so there are not many of them out there. I do not believe the seller that these could be modified to fit a newer car.

i have a 78 pace car (factory OEM glass t-tops) and have been trying to find a set of t-top headliners that will fit the glass tops (the only ones i have found were for the fiberglass tops only:cry). the glass tops may look nice, but they sure are worthless as far as keeping the interior at a normal level even with the a/c working full blast. particularly down here in south florida in the summer time, lol!!

I do NOT like the glass T-tops! I've already replaced the 'black' seats, and the pink and orange carpet is coming out as soon as the new gets here. Hopefully in a few days it will all be the original dark red again. As to your original question, the 68 - 77 models have two latches, the 78-82 has one latch in the front with a 'bayonet' that secures the rear. I've read ads saying they are easy to change, but have never looked into it as I found fiberglass tops correct for my car. OH, and the garage really helps keep the sun and heat out! I want to look into louvers to cover up the 'bay window' - I really do prefer cool and dark to heat and light :cool
Just my opinion.

Hey there,

I agree with the others, my glass tops are HOT!!!!!!, not cool ;LOL
Trying to find some standard ones here now.

I know corvette America sells a flexible type film shaped to fit to the inside of the tops to prevent some of the heat entering, might be worth a look, I think they do a rear window as well. Uses static to cling to the glass so no damage from fixing.

I still have my original fiberglass tops for real hot days or trips to the desert. I don't worry about the interior being damaged by the sun, the vinyl they used in the '69 is damn near bullet proof.

As a matter of fat, i was looking to purchase a set of LOF galaxy glass tops. Just called the sunroof doctor and cut out the middleman..Tops for $899.00 which included the shipping...Any place else was at least $150.00 more for the same product and good customer service to boot. Tops should arrive within 3 days..We'll see how they work. Check out this link.

Sorry People

That info about the tinted inlays for the glass t-tops was from Mid America Motorworks, not Corvette America! www.mamotorworks.com

Also see they do a solid headliner for glass t-tops as well, maybe even better?
Sorry for the ....ooops

Installed a set of LOF Galaxy glass t tops today on my car...They went over very quickly..a few minor adjustments, but i would say the entire job from start to finish took 45 minutes...NOT BAD at all...They screen out 95% of the sun and look quite nice. Glad i purchased them.....the sunroofdoctor was the place to go..they were shipped and received within 3 days and were packed very well..good enough that i was able to use the packing box to put my old white tops in for storage!!

Actually, you modify the reciever on the rear pillar of the car itself. You are basically converting the later style latch system reciever to the early style.

I went to their web site and they only show C4 tops. What did you buy from them?

For those that have the Glass tops without the tint, Eckler's and Mid-America Motorworks, (and I am sure most other supply houses), sell a static film that you can put on the inside of the top and is not visible from the outside. It eliminates about 80% of the heat while still feeling open. Best of all is that it peels off with no residue if you are going to a show and then can be reapplied for the trip home. Most of them you cut with scissors to fit. I do not know how many times you can remove and reapply but since it is held with static I believe as long as you keep it clean smooth it will be OK. I use on my C4 Glass tops and it makes a world of difference!

On their website, on the left hand side of the screen..click on T-Top parts....they have 1968-1982 listed..new tops... Hope this helps.

I have had the glass tops on my 75 for quite sometime (years). They provide more head room and are acceptable except on very hot days. My car spends most of it's time in the garage with no tops on it and only go's out on nice days. Not really a issue for me, but could be hot for a daily driver.

Here are my Galaxy glass t tops. Just put on last week. Makes the car feel much brighter...

They look great from the outside especially with a later C3 but what's the deal on the inside re.: the pins and latches compared to my OEMs. Firstly, I have repro ttop brackets on my luggage rack and I don't want that to be for nothin and secondly I've seen some that use a real mickey mouse set up with screws and the like to hold them down. Pictures?
