I recently purchased a used glass top for my 93, the seller said it was off a 1990. The rear bolts line up accurately but the front bolts appear to be off by about 1/2" to 3/4". Is there a replacement bracket I can buy for the top that will give me the proper alignment or am I screwed? Thanks in advance for any information you can give me. Tim

Tim, there are 3 dif tops for C4's as follows, 84- early 86, late 86- 88, 89 - 96. If that top came off a 90 it shuold fit your 93. Either your car has been modified or that top is not from a 90. First you need to find out what year top it is and then you can buy the proper hardware from a salvage yard to adapt your car so the roof will fit. It is not that hard to do and only takes about an hour. I would suggest Contemporary Corvette for the parts. That is were I got mine when I had my 85 and changed it to fit a later model top. I have the parts for 85 to early 86. Good Luck, Guy

Thanks Guy, Judging from the hardware it looks like a 86L-88 top. I'll start the hunt for parts to do the conversion right now. Take Care, Tim

Tim, your problem may just be alignment. The newer tops do allow for adjustment. Take a 13mm wrench and loosen the two bolts on each side of the front and see if it will line up. This may just take care of it.

Good luck

Mike

BTDOG is right that's how I got mine aligned for the 87.

Thanks for the replies guys. The brackets on the top are definately the wrong style for my car. The guy I bought it from must have had it advertised wrong. I can buy the correct brackets from my local Chevy dealer but I dont think the bolts will line up correctly to mount the new brackets to the top. I know there must be a retro kit, just haven't found ot yet. If anyone knows where to find it let me know. Or if someone wants a good deal on a L86-88 bronze acrylic top let me know. Have a good weekend. Thanks, Tim

Got mine @ Contemporary Corvette. I think they have a web site. They advertise in some of the vette mags.
