Any altenative to buying GM new? I need the bronze.

:cry they are a tad spendy. So far the best price I found is Mid-America.

Its time to bite the bullet after this summer, shes looking rough!

Thanx!:D

I found a used one in decent shape off of ebay for about 500 shipped, you're right, they're definitely not cheap. There are companies out there who if you send a frame to will replace the top, I can't speak for any of them since I haven't had it done, I would imagine someone on here has as many members as we have. That would be a lot cheaper than ordering a new one.

I have a Nice Original Bronze for a 96,in stock in Great shape with nice rubbers and all the mounts and hardware on it!! But as Rascal said there not cheep and I'll not sell it for less than it cost me to replace it!! I buy and sell allot of these cars and I'm always looking for decent tops to replace cracked and scared ones!! You can have yours Re-Lensed for about $800.00 by the time you get done with shipping of it and your core!! A new one runs about $11-1200 from GM with out the hardware and W/S rubbers!!:upthumbs

There's another source for aftermarket tops, Astro tops, but from what I understand these are not nearly the quality of Melrose and not even in the same ballpark as OEM.

American Sports Car Center

You can try American Sports Car Center in Alanta GA. They sell glass tops for about 7 to 8 hundred with a core. www.buyavette.net

Thanx everybody! I did find astro tops on ebay, thinking of going that route, anyone go with their rebuild??? Pro's cons, good bad?????

asthro tops have bad rep for warping when parked in sunlight, separating from frames.

I don't have any personal experience with Astro Tops but you might want to do a search on them on this or other forums before you contact them.

I wasn't advocating Astro Tops at all, as a matter of fact I've heard nothing good about them. Do a search and read for yourself.

Thanks I got a price from a place inTenn to replace it
Little hesitant it is a acrylic plastic for $450

How about giving us a review here on the top and service when you get it done please...where in TN is the place at?

There is a very small crack at one corner of mine and I know I'll eventually have to have it re-glassed, probably about to put my solid top on for the winter.

I bought an astor top for my 84 and it looks really good. One size fits all. Only problem is there are little bolts that adjust to fit all models and the front sticks up slightly and if you use a pressure washer on it some water can get in on the front corners. But for the price it is a great deal. Comes with new side seals mine needed them anyway. I couldn't spend 1200 on a targa, new exhaust is more important to me.

With 3 little kids 1200 is not in the budget but less than 400 is.
