Hi all,
i own a 1980 corvette that i bought a couple months ago. its had a rough life, but im tryin to bring it back. it has original glass ttops. the glass is in good shape, BUT one of the glass panels looks as if its came off before and somehow glued back together. i wouldnt care that much, but its starting to come undone so that air comes through in the front of the panel. as far as i know these tops are very expensive and i cant fit it into my budget, so i was wondering if there are any other repair methods? advice is greatly appreciated. thanks

these panel back then were laminated together,I don't know if there is a fix or not perhaps someone has had theirs repaired, and steer you in the right direction...
good luck!!!1

The 80 assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows how the glass tops were assembled. You are correct about what looks like glue; the original plastic frames were glued to the glass. Not sure what was used.

:)

oh ok ill check the manuel, hopefully its somethin i can do myself.

if you cant fix it yourself call your local glass guy he should have some kind of adhesive to fix it.

Anybody know what the factory used? I have a repair I want to make to one of my tops, but it requires removing the frame from the glass. I think I could make the repair if I knew what the original cement was and what I can use to dissolve the original bond.

:)
