I just bought a new glove box lock from Paragon for my car. It was missing from my car when I bought it. What is the best way to tighten the escutcheon plate that holds the lock in place? thanks for your help

On my 62 I was lucky and was able to find a cold chizel in my chizel tool tray that fit in perfect with a wrap of masking tape on it. (I was lucky) other wise I would recomend a LARGE alan key.

Good luck with it and just dont over tighten it youll break that little tit off

I can't see where one would insert the chisel or the Alan key. Can you describe this a bit more? The lock catch goes on the back side. The key mechanism goes in the front, and then the escutcheon plate screws itself into the lock (which holds the key mechanism in as well.) Am I missing something?

Paul,

The bezel does not hold the lock in at all. It's purpose is to hold the rear lock housing in place. The bezel is an odd shape on the inside and you can just jam a chisel or large screwdriver inside to tighten it up with. The lock is retained by the forward-most wafer in the lock cylinder. You depress the wafer and slip the lock in place, and the lock will stay in place. Be sure that the wafers are pointing up when you install the lock, or you will never be able to remove it again! There is a small hole in the top of the lock body, right at the door, that you can insert a paperclip in and release the wafer that retains the lock. If you install the lock upside down, you can't get at the wafer!.
