GM Bra Help Question/Help

I just got my GM Bra, getting ready for Love Bugs here in Florida, any way went to put the snaps in the wheel well and they did not easily fit. Since I'm new to Vettes, I though I would ask the pros who have put this bra on.
The rubber plugs which go into the wheel well area do not seem to want to fit correctly or easily, and when I tightend the snap stud , the painted surface, and the back plastic spread apart, is there something that I need to remove behing the painted surface, or did I just not get it positioned correctly. The instructions are not too great, but probably ok for a Business. Any and all suggestions and advice are appricated.

GM Bra

I installed the same bra on my 04. What I did with the rubber gromets is I pryed the inner fender well out and installed them in between the fiberglass of the fender and the fender well. I found that it was easier for them to expand in the drilled holes of the glass. Once all was complete I was satisfied with the installation. I am ready for the love bugs in Louisiana....................

I would guess the Fenders are similar between a C4 and C5. On my '90 I didn't like the way the velcro covered metal tabs were suppoesd to attach (bend around the fender weell and attach to velcro you stick on.) I removed the screws from the inner fener well, bent the tabs around the fiberglass then reattached the inner fender. The bra looks nice and tight and the tabs are sandwiched between the pieces so its not going anywhere.


Yea the Love Bugs get bad here on the GulfCoast. I've already noticed a couple of them flying around.

Update on Bra

Guana I Thanks for the info I took another look at it after reading your reply and I just pryed the liner from the glass or plastic. I just took the screw bracket out and sliped in the stud and tightened. Wait, not that simple, the instructions do not mention this, I also put one (both sides)stud in the wrong hole, had to take all studs out and move one stud to higher hole, my mistake, howerver the screw brackets fell inside the bumper and spent some time fishing them out, had to have them for filling the hole where the stud was originaly put. Any way not really happy with the snap studs I think they should have been just the screw studs that fit the original screw brackets, but what do I know, if I have some problems I will fix it that way. Any way everyone was right the thing fits like a glove.
The directions could have been better, I'm not a rocket scientist but very handy of most everything mechanical and if I had to do another one I think I could do it in 30 minutes or less.

I did the same thing installing the snap studs in the wrong holes in the inner wells. I had to take it all apart and reinstall. The instructions could have been clearer..................I just installed some chrome wheels from West Coast Corvettes, made a big diffrence on the C5...........

just get 6 more of the same type that was supplied for under the front bumper and you can just remove the screws from the fender wells and install the screw in snaps in the orignal tinnermin nut that are already there. this is a easier way to do it than using the rubber nuts. i used this method on 3 differet C-5 with no problems. any place that does boat covers should have them

Warning! Tired of finding new paint chips, I bought a GM bra for road trips.

Which is more tolerable, paint chips or scuffed paint? The bra moves around enought to haze and dull the paint, at least mine did. Red is in the shop today for a front end buff. The bra is thrown in the corner of the shop.

Spend the extra few bucks and have the dealer install it. You'll sleep better at night.
