GM Denies Warranty On Oiled Air Filter Cars

If GM is kicking warranty claims on engines equipped with oil-impregnated cotton gauze or woven cotton filters, then the people who are servicing the filters in those vehicles are putting too much oil on them.

Anyone who's foolish or ignorant enough to oil the filter so much the MAF gets oiled must take the responsibility for the cost. GM is right to kick warranty claims for that reason.

BTW....I'll pay anyone who's removed a Blackwing or a Halltec filter assy ten bucks to take it off our hands. I'll even pay shipping. :D

Vehicle assembly + greater Costs of "special" parts = Less Profitable a platform

Too much of anything ruins a car. Oil. Octane booster. Tranny fluid. Whatever it is, if you exceed the "correct" amount you suffer the damages.

I've been using KN filters in my autos and toys for years. I've never had a problem. I have seen many that were over-oiled that did cause problems. I think the mentallity of most users is if a little is good, alot is better.

Just follow the oiling guideline and you will be OK.
