Can anybody give me the GM part number for the EBCM below?

Delphi/Delco -ABS-5-TCS-AH
Model# 09360921

The local dealer advised that the part has been purged from their computer and could supply.
I think I may have tracked down a company that has a rebuilt one for a reasonable price but he
needs the GM part number so we can accurately compare what he has to what i need.

Makes a difference. Do you have the option of Active Handling?

It would appear you have AH. My parts book says 9376711.

Dealerships don't purge P/N's, they just can't order them.

Haven't given up yet.

Yes I do have active handling and traction control.
I sent the EBCM to MYAIRBAGS.COM and they checked it and said that they were able to repair some issues but when rechecked it showed some problem on the circuit board and they did not work on those. They refunded my $79 so I was only out about $20 shipping.
Talked to a very helpful guy yesterday at EBC Depot. He said that they do some repair to the boards an told me to send him the unit and the tech would check it out. If they can rebuild it will cost me $265, if they can't, it will be $20 and postage. Worth a shot because if I can't get it fixed I will be driving a high performance sports car with no ABS or traction control or active handling. Great, living the American dream.

You can now learn how to drive a car like a real man does. :happyanim:

ABS means longer stopping distance than manually possible. I wish I could easily delete it. I always turn off TC which disables AH. I don't want an unwanted lane change when I did not call for it. Too many stories out there on issues and wrecks. I want to be in control of the car. If I raced for money then I might have to use it to maintain some slight edge and push the car harder than I would on the street (to the limit or over it).

Need to know how to drive the car with out AH and TC so you can actually be in control, not some circuit board.

What makes you think the ABS will not work? 99+% of EBCM issues only affect AH and/or TC. Do you know how to tell/verify if ABS works on a car?

Yeah I'm an old school guy. However I really do like the new technology tires. I can't believe what we did on skinny bias ply tires back in the 60's. No wonder a new set would only last about 5,000 miles. We should all be dead. Some friends did.

Been there done that

Schooling on learning to drive "like a real man" not necessary. I was a uniform police officer for over 30 years and had extensive training in high speed pursuit driving, with yearly requalification. I worked in a large city and you haven't been tested until you fly through city traffic with red lights and siren screaming. I know how to drive with and without the extras.
My main issue is that if something is on the car it should work. That includes the little things (clock, lights etc) and the big ones (ABS,AH, TC)
Not to mention resale; two exact vets side by side for sale. One has everything working and the other is mine with nannies broke. Which would you buy? What really chaps my ass is that this only affects a small percentage of the C5's. (97-2000). After mid year 2000 they changed to the EBCM that can be rebuilt.

Hey, thank you for your service to the community. Didn't know I had stepped on Superman's cape. I hope you know we like to kid on the Forums.

With that said, I absolutely agree the car should work as designed. I just wish more stuff on it had an on/off switch or was never included. There is not much you can do until someone can service the early EBCMs. Looks like they may have replaced a relay or two but apparently the circuit board has an issue.

If it were me I would sit tight until fixes are available and I am sure they will be. Finding a good used one is going to be hard as most of them have been bought up.

I would just make sure the normal braking system works fine. May want to test the ABS and see if it works, I bet it does. There are 2 ways to do it. One is hard braking to see if the pedal pumps the brakes. I am sure you are WELL QUALIFIED to do that. The other is to put the rear wheels on jackstands and put the car in gear and see if the rear brakes pulsate on their own with no braking action on your part. ABS should activate because the front wheels are not moving but the backs are. I would never do this with the rear wheels on due to the severe angle imposed on the rear shafts. If you do this be careful. Suggest you have a friend to help and use high quality jackstands or use a 2 post lift.

If ever I can be of help, just contact me. I normally specialize in the electronics and electricals. I am new to this Forum but have spent years on another one. Mr. Sam (AKA Smartass)

Thanks "smartass" no harm done. I think my skin is a little thin from too much time on forums. Between this one and TundraTalk it seems someone is "spanking" me every time I post. I have found that there are a very small group of guys, I call forum bullies, who get a little too carried away with poking fun.
I agree with everything you stated. I love this car and plan on keeping it until it is an antique. I don't have a problem fixing parts that break but I get get this part. I have a 1975 Corvette that I can go to the local auto parts store and get any part I need. I know, more electronics more of these issues.
I will post when I get more from the place in TX.

I predict within 5 years there will be replacement EBCMs. That is the normal time for when parts that dry up to begin to be produced for cars like the Corvette and Mustang, etc. There are too many of them to not be supported. Somebody will talk to a GM "big guy" at one of the NCM type events and get some support for the effort.
