General Motors plans to move production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro to Michigan from Canada.

The Camaro, currently made in Oshawa, Ontario, will be built at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Mich., GM said today in a statement.

The automaker cited “lower capital investment” and “improved production efficiencies” as reasons for the shift.

Moving Camaro duties to the Grand River plant allows GM to consolidate production of the rear-wheel-drive sports car with the rwd Cadillac CTS and ATS. The Camaro was the only rwd vehicle assembled at the Oshawa plant, GM said.

Sorry to everyone up around Oshawa, but Lansing can use the jobs!!!

Thanks GM!!

GM Oshawa Gone?

As of now, GM Oshawa has nothing at all on the books to build after 2016. Could be the end of the Oshawa complex. The 3+ million square foot truck plant shut down production a few years ago. It's not looking good for Oshawa right now.
