General Motors Asia Pacific Japan (GMAPJ), headed by President Jay Hunt; based in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, has received brisk advance orders for the new Corvette, the high-performance sports car bearing the Chevrolet brand, company sources said.
With its market debut slated for February 11 approaching, the company has already sold its planned sales of 150 cars in 2005 in the advance booking stage. GMAPJ has immediately asked the GM head office in the United States to increase the vehicle output intended for the Japanese market.
Ardent fans of the model representing the American high-power sports car snatched at the Corvette, which underwent a full model change in years.
The Chevrolet Corvette is a high-performance sports car that represents the U.S., whose first-generation model hit the market in 1954. The new model called "C6" is the sixth-generation, featuring a 6-liter V8 engine that boasts of the greatest 404 horsepower among all the successive models.
Two models, such as Corvette Coupe and the Corvette Convertible, will be introduced into the Japanese market. GMAPJ has received ceaseless advance orders for them since the middle of November of last year and has nearly sold out 150 units allotted to the Japanese market for this year to date, it says.
GMAPJ says, "A wide range of customers, that is, not only the existing Corvette users who have been eagerly waiting for a new model, but also new customers endorse the model," and currently is in negotiations for increasing its production with the parent company.
