Is there such a thing? I was thinking of going red and gold instead of red and chrome. Just playing with the thought. I noticed how nice some cars look with the gold colored letters on the body and thought, hmm I've never seen gold wheels on a vet. I saw gold tips for the exhaust..

Red & Gold sounds like a great color combo!

I think it would look nice only if ALL the trim on the exterior is gold. I can't stand the cars that mix gold and chrome trim, I think it looks tacky.

Interesting thought. Do you have an after market exhaust? That would be the only conflicting Chrome.
Hum...??? I'll look around a little and if I find anything I'll let you know. I'd like to see what it looks like when you are done if you do.
Way back in my memory I recall something red w/gold wheels, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.... maybe a late sixties GTO or something. Could have been a mustang.
Maybe I can send a picture of mine to corvettecrazy or someone (any volunteers?) to Photoshop gold on the wheels for an idea of what it would look like.

Edit: Wait a minute, you are a web gal how's your photoshop. I can send a decient pic if you want to try.

This red vette appears to have gold wheels. I think they kind of look good on it.

My sentiments exactly. Either all or nothing. So, I found gold letters, gold exhaust tips, and lastly(and probably most difficult to find) is the wheels.

the GM mag wheels are gold.

That would look good i have the chrome lettering tips and plate. Its kind of common but i like it. The gold would definetly set you apart from others. They make a gold exhaust plate too that will look awesome!

The factory wheels for the 50th AE have a 'champagne' tint. You might want to check out a few of them. Also the standard magnesium wheels have a 'gold' tint.

HRE makes wheels that are plated with 14kt yellow gold as well. The only drawback is the price tag. The last time I asked a set of four ran $11,000! :eek

Yikes.

Hmm I guess I'll just have to go back to being extremely happy with what I have already..

Here are some pics of our car with gold wheels. We also have the gold lettering kit front and rear. Some underhood components are gold as well. The fuel rail covers are DBGM, like the car, with gold letters (painted them myself) ;)

These are the factory painted rims that have been sandblasted, then PowderKoted gold. My cost for all four, done at a local shop, was $250. I painted the center caps using shiny gold paint (shiny metal line - can't remember the brand), followed by a clear coat. The paint matches the gold rims exactly. I used the same paint on the underhood components. I also painted the lug caps DBGM to match the car.

The pictures really don't do them justice. The rims actually look very close to my gold wedding band in bright light. The coating holds up very well; 12k miles and several autocrosses on them so far (the top two pics were taken right after our autocross 10/19/03)

instead of gold you could get a set of rims and have them anadized(sp?) to a gold color.

can you powdercoat things in gold?
