Energizer Roller rockers CRANE part # 11746-16

1.6 ratio, 3/8" stud. Are these decent? Lingenfelter likes Comp Cams, but Crane is also good, right?
Thanks...

I would go with the 7/16" Comp Cam Pro Mags and get a new set a studs.. Assuming you have screw in stud on your vette.. I forget which heads have screw in and which ones don't

EDIT.. Alos moved it to C4 Mods

Hi Rich,

Just my 2 cents worth ,But in our 86 I installed G.M Rollers part number 12370839.

Jeff, I'm getting new heads anyway, but for whatever reason Lingenfelter said to stick with 3/8". No rationale given.

No matter. I wound up bidding on and winning another set, which are supposed to be the ones out of the GM Performance catalog (you can barely make out the bow-tie on the auction picture).

Now here's another question... looking through that catalog, I see part number 12371042 - roller lifter kit. According to the catalog, this kit plus guideplates plus new (shorter?) pushrods are all I need to convert to a roller cam. Anyone know anything about this? Going to call on price tomorrow... see if it's cheaper than the $500 kit from Lingenfelter.

Rich,
The 7/16" studs, rollers are recommended if you have stiff springs and will spin the engine up high in rpm. They keep the valvetrain from flexing as much. Other engines have stud girdles for this.

I am gonna post my 3/8" ones up.

I just picked up a set of the 1.6 self aligning GM full rollers today. I believe they are Crane parts just stamped with the chevy logo.

They fit under the stock height valve cover, no problem.

They don't require hardened push rods since they don't require guide plates...a nice plus considering the rockers along were $288!

Whew! I just paid $152 off eBay for zero-mile ones (in original box). I've got hardened pushrods and guideplates anyway.

RICHR---If you got the self aligning type from GM, you don't want to run the guide plates. I was reading the destructions that came with them, and they claim this could cause extra stress in the valve train. Why....I don't know?

If you have the non-self aligning...no worries...because you are required to use the guide plate and hardened rods in that case.

Good to know. These should be the self-aligning ones - IIRC, there really is only one 3/8" 1.6 ratio arm from GM so it's a pretty good shot that what I got is what you have. Oddly enough, there's a warning in the book to check clearance with cast-iron heads. Since I probably won't put these on until I get the new (alum) heads, that shouldn't be an issue anyway.
