I have the oppertunity to get a 85vett at a good price but theonly problem is that a car parked next to it cought on fire. The only damage to the 85 is the rear bbumper and the drivers side quarter pannel. My question is how hard are the vetts to do body work on ?

1st off - Welcome to the :CAC

Body work is not that hard on Corvettes, but Fiberglass/SMC is a different critter to work on than metal.

How does the rest of the Corvette look/drive?

Later . . . . . .
6 Shooter

Welcome Hi-Tek

I agree with 6 Shooter, how does the rest look and how does it drive? Or did it melt the tires on that side? Also be careful of what you think might be a good deal just because it is a Corvette. Check out some auto trading magazines or E-bay to see if the car is at a reasonable price. Some people just think Corvettes should cost a lot to buy, but that isn't always the case. Any pictures? history of car? mileage? lots of things that go into the value.

thanks for the welcome!.

The car i am talking about is owned by a coworker.
Its a 85 (red) just over 100kmiles, fresh 4+3, and driveline.
Ran perfect before the fire, fire burned the rear wiring to the lights and fp, says he hocked up an external pump and it runs fine.

The parts that are dammaged are from the drivers side back to the bumper, across the back and the lower quarter on the passengers side, mabey the drivers door, drivers side door glass and rear glass.

the rest looks to be in very good shape even the trim aroung the rear glass, interor is in desent shape.

the only reason why he is selling is no place to work on it and needs the money.

He wants $1500 for it.

So what do yall think? I know of a person selling the rear tub of a vett around here that looks like it would replace alll the bad parts. Just dont know how much work it would be to swap out the parts.

Me and my farher are both mechanics so working on it is no problem.

Thanks for your help.

If you don't buy it, tell me where in Florida it is then and I'll buy it! :D

I hope your friend is OK after hocking up an external pump. I saw a cat do something like that once, It looked painful.:D

Buy it for $1500 and burn the tires off it again.
