Good source for a deal on a C3? Sources to avoid?

I'm anticipating getting a C3 and I've been looking at various websites, trying to get a feel for prices, trying to become educated on what to look for - such as frame and birdcage rust.

Any sources or websites you favor? Any you feel should be steered clear of?

Ever bought a Vette long-distance (out of state) and it worked out well? Or was a disaster? I'm obviously leery about buying a car I haven't personally inspected but the potential pool is bigger.

You also might try Craigslist.org. I checked the
craigslist: tampa bay area jobs, apartments, for sale, services, community, and events and found some
C3's for sale. Just key in CORVETTE into the search
box and hit enter. Don't use C3 Corvette,
because a lot of the ads do not indicate which
Cx generation it is, and you will miss a bunch.
As always, buyer beware, so do your homework
before you even go to look at any.
Good luck with the search and purchase........

You should be leery about buying any vehicle that you have not personally inspected, always pay the money for a known quality C3 (in this case) vehicle inspection person, with an inspection on a hoist. Be very wary of out of state purchases with an unknown "inspection specialist". I have seen many buyers get burned by this as the inspection service works for the seller, even if the buyer pays for the service.
