i got 2 goodyear F1's mounted on the front of my vette. 285/40/17's. they call for 51 lbs of air. i got them set at 42 psi. the ride is alittle more rough than the GSC's. i got 2 good GSC's on the back until track season is over. the bite on the F1's in the turns you can really feel! they look like about 1/2" wider on each side then the GSC 285/40/17 width. tirerack.com rates these tires at 9.5 on dry surface 8.5 on wet! that is almost as good as the BFG DR's! plus you get alot more miles out of them :D

so far i'd give them 2 :thumbsup :D when i get the other 2 i think i will go with 275/40/17's and move these to the back and i'll let you guys know how they handle thru the turns :)

also bought a K&N air filter. i really didn't notice no difference from a good clean fram paper filter. i was alittle disapointed but it does feel like it pulls alittle harder past 3000 rpm but not much. i guess it's worth it in the long run since i change my paper filter every 3 months.

next mods to go on is an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and a Rear Y Pipe and Muffler Eliminators :D

Mic, are these the F1 GS-D3's? Or the regular F1's? I just installed these on the front of my 95 vert.

Eagle F1 GS-D3

Haven't driven it much since they've been mounted but I did get caught in some rain and they sure did seem to grip better than the GS-C's.

I'm looking at the Green Filter instead of the K&N. Will hopefully do that soon with an open air box.

WHY did you put 42psi in them?

They have a MAX pressure of 51, thats what it means.
You shouldnt run more than 35-38psi.

But the F1 is Goodyears' best tire right now, light years beyond the GSCs.

Gorgon,

yes they are the new F1's

i like them so far. seems alittle louder than the GSC's but you can feel the grip going in a turn. i put mine on the front till track season is over and i still got some good meat left on the rear GSC's

Vader,

GSC's say 44 max psi cold. 51 psi cold for the F1's i didn't want a super hard ride but i think i'm gonna play with the pressure alittle till i get them where i want them. i kept my GSC's at 40 psi and felt pretty good. JIMO...

BTW with my discounts i paid $380 for 2. taxes, mounted, balanced with new valve stems. the tire alone listed for $215 thru Mr. Tire here in MD. Tirerack has them for 185 with 12 bucks shipping i think. so all in all i think i got a pretty good deal! :D

The sidewall says 51psi max. I'm running them at the stock 30psi that is recommended on the car. I am going to bumb them up to around 34 I think and see how they ride.

As to noise, one of the complaints of the GSC's were that they were fairly noisey. These were supposed to be a quieter ride and I haven't noticed them as being loud at all.

Either way, I like the tires and can't wait to burn the GSC's to put some on the rear. Only problem is they are pretty new and we need to start looking at putting new tires on the C5. Tires can get expensive with two Vettes. :eek
