Warning! Got a royal Screwing from Eckler's

When I restored my 77 I ordered a lot from them over about a 2 year period. Everything I got was on the money and on time. I never had an issue. It's too bad you had a bad experience with them. Perhaps I was one of the lucky ones. Art

...Eckler’s gave me credit for $137.99 , the cost of the cover. They did not, and still have not paid me for the original shipping of a defective cover or the money I paid to ship it back. I’ve sent two emails and to date, no response. Last thing I’ll purchase from Eckler’s

Just a thought- how many purchases have you made from Eckler's?

I've order thousands of dollars from them and had NO problems. Same goes for Mid America Designs and Wilcox.

But... it only takes 1 bad experience for someone to tell 10 people they know... or so I've heard. Companies live and die by word of mouth and how that effects their book of business.

I've made purchases from Eckler's and haven't had a problem with them. I don't make all my Corvette purchases through them, I also use Mid-America, Zip-Corvette, and Year One. All-in-all, I've only had one item on back order which took 1 month to receive. I wasn't in a hurry for that item so it didn't bother me to wait.

I've not had a problem with Eckler's shipping or after sale service. They ship my C4 parts quickly and accurately. One time I did screw up and ordered 2 of something. They accepted the extra part back and paid my freight. I have found them less expensive than MidAmerica on most things I've purchased, including clothing.

I have had very good luck with West Coast Corvette, and some of their sales are awesome. For example, I got a lambskin C5 jacket from them on sale for $79 and I have seen the same jacket at others for close to $500.

I purchased a new car cover for my 99 FRC from Ecklers on 8-7-09.The cover was $137.99 plus $10.81 shipping and handling. The new cover would not fit the Vette, it was too small. After five calls and several emails complaining about the cover, they finally admitted they had problems with that brand of cover being too small.
I sent the new cover back and paid $11.96 of my money for shipping and then learned it would be 4 to 6 weeks for a replacement. My car is parked outside so this was unacceptable to me. I asked for a credit for the charges and purchased a cover from another vendor.

..............

they will probably make it right when it cycles through the system

Vote with your $$$$$

It would be a shame to lose a specialty parts supplier for 'our' cars! But, if they can't get the job done, right, just take your business elsewhere! :cool

Hi There;
So you got screwed for $32.82. Sorry to hear that. I threw out all their cats in the summer time.Move on & forget it. $32. will not even fill your gas tank.

My wife ordered me a cover from www.corvettestoreonline.com before Christmas and it did not show up when she thought it should. My wife called and asked where it was and they said is was being made. That is when she told me what was going on, I thought wtf. Looked at the listing she ordered it from and saw that it indeed was going to be made to order and would be 7-10 days to complete. I was going to complain just like this post after it was delivered on the 14th of Jan. Opened it up and installed it, fit like a glove and forgot all about complaining. Thought I would share that with you if you did not find a replacement yet

It's a funny thing- how things work sometimes.

I know of a LOT of companies that will set up online stores- and then list merchandise for sale on it that hasn't been made yet. Basically, when you place an order and add to your cart- some or all of what you want must be put together first. So, there is a delay.

It doesn't go out the door in two or three days. Sometimes, it takes two or three weeks due to the orders ahead and production requirements.

However, the shopping cart feature (during the purchase) leads us to believe that items are in fact assembled and waiting for us to merely buy them... and clearly, they aren't always that way.

Doug- glad you are happy! Thanks for the reference to another option for folks who might be looking. :thumb

the net and buying

I have purchased some items for our family cars off the net but only if they post a phone number and address. I then call and speak to a warm body and do the purchase.

Anybody know the CAC record for the longest running thread? I thought I would chime in again since it's been about three years since my last post on this one.:L
