There are a lot of things I'm really liking here. Amongst them is the fact that after five posts, we're eligible for our own avatars (those little pictures under our names.) The thing I like about them is it makes it easier to remember who someone is. Sort of like how on my telephone speed-dial, next to "Mom," I pasted her picture so I can more easily keep my friends and relatives straight.

Thanks to IH2LOSE and 67HEAVEN for helping me with this. Here's a set of "any monkey could do it" instructions. It may not be the most efficient way, but it worked for me.

1. Get to your profile page. I do this by clicking on my name wherever I can find it, usually where it lists all the members logged on at the top of the "Forums" page.

2. On the left, click on "Edit Profile"

3. At the top, click on "Edit Options"

4. At the very bottom, click on "Change Avatar"

5. At the bottom is where you can upload a picture (max 110x110 pixels) directly from your hard drive. No personal website necessary! If you don't have a picture, they have some already you can use.

6. Post new topic titled "Got me an avatar" to explain how pleased with yourself you are.

If you have a picture but it's too big, there are a few of us here who can resize it for you if you e-mail it to us.

Sweet looking vette. I have a '57, but unfortunately it's only a model that sits on my computer!

Mike, I just hope that your garage gets approved, I'd hate to hear of any more horror stories....

ROTFLMAO you guys are cracking me up.. Y'all are like my grandkids when they find the cookie jar ;LOL

I don't mean this to be nasty or anything bad, It just makes me smile seeing all our new members finding CAC then ENJOYING what we have to offer here ;)

Welcome to THE Corvette Action Center Community, we may not be the biggest, but I would argue the point of not being one of, if not the BEST Website on the Internet :D

It is great seeing everyone enjoying it here ;) Rob has done a lot of work to make it a Community for us all to enjoy. Believe it or not we are even open to suggestions ;)

got me an avatar

Mike:

Thanks for the instructions on adding an avatar. Hopefully,
it will show up and work. Thanks to forum administrator for
changing my name for me to Mikes64. Was needing help
today on my shifter. Got in the car to go to the office, no
reverse. Took everything apart and the little reverse rod
had fallen down into the shifter, can't believe it hadn't fallen
out from the bottom of car. Anyway, it wasn't very much
fun driving without the reverse lock-out working. Taking
off from a stop was a challange, forward or backward. Any-
way, it is working properly.

Trixie, I'm afraid my shiny new avatar is no match for yours! :cool Where in NoCal? I grew up in Eureka.

youwish2bme, I get nervous just thinking about whether or not I'll get city approval for the garage!

rare81, there's a cookie jar? Don't mind if I do!

Mike, looks like you've got success on two fronts! :beer

Mike, I was born and raised in Woodland, California which is about 20 miles north of Sacramento near Davis. I still live there but work in Sacramento. That 17 minute drive to work triples the money I would make in Woodland!! I don't mind the commute, it gives me time to wind up and wind down before and after the office.

We're just enjoying the honeymoon. At the udder place, there were different rules, different resources, different smilies, different format, etc. Not long ago, they did a major software change which made download times for those of us using Apple PCs very very long and, to frustrate matters, they weren't seeking solutions very actively. I can't speak for everyone but I'm thinking this vacation may turn into a full-time residence.

Back when I originally set out to build the Corvette Action Center, one of the things that really bothered me was that in order to acquire the information that I was looking for from various web sites, I had to wade through tons of garbage that bogged down my web browser - enormous pictures and overall - poor design.

My feeling is, Corvettes are known for their speed and overall performance; so to should the Corvette Action Center.

To get a good background of what this web site is all about, you're welcome to view this article I wrote back in September of 2002:

Hey Guys, don't know if this works. Trying to change my Avatar...

Well, I checked to make sure I had a photo loaded. It's within the size limit. It still dosen't show the pic. Any ideas?
Wiley

Hi 67Heaven, it wasn't showing so I tried the upload again. When I went back to see if it showed up, it was there.

ok....that worked. I see it now on the reply post. Thanks Heaven67

I guess you have to get above 10 posts before that option appears... I have looked at my profile and I don't see any option like that...;shrug
