There are a lot of things I'm really liking here. Amongst them is the fact that after five posts, we're eligible for our own avatars (those little pictures under our names.) The thing I like about them is it makes it easier to remember who someone is. Sort of like how on my telephone speed-dial, next to "Mom," I pasted her picture so I can more easily keep my friends and relatives straight.
Thanks to IH2LOSE and 67HEAVEN for helping me with this. Here's a set of "any monkey could do it" instructions. It may not be the most efficient way, but it worked for me.
1. Get to your profile page. I do this by clicking on my name wherever I can find it, usually where it lists all the members logged on at the top of the "Forums" page.
2. On the left, click on "Edit Profile"
3. At the top, click on "Edit Options"
4. At the very bottom, click on "Change Avatar"
5. At the bottom is where you can upload a picture (max 110x110 pixels) directly from your hard drive. No personal website necessary! If you don't have a picture, they have some already you can use.
6. Post new topic titled "Got me an avatar" to explain how pleased with yourself you are.
If you have a picture but it's too big, there are a few of us here who can resize it for you if you e-mail it to us.
