Maybe this is normal-Passenger side came right off total time spent taking off and putting back on 40 minutes:)

Drivers side-Lot's of cussing and lot's of use of A sawzall & mini grinder total time spent taking off and putting back on 4-1/2 hours:mad

But that being said sounds great and looks great

Which elims did you buy, & how do they sound.?
How loud are they in the car?
I was looking at Mid-America P/N 618-966, or Eckler's # 36993, both are approx $190.00/pair.

Do you have a sound clip?? I am trying to decide on the eliminators or the mufflers and the whole system from Corvette Central.

I pulled the stock mufflers off and bought some 2 1/2" tubing that I adapted to the over-axle pipe. Made a simple bracket that holds the tubing in the stock muffler support. Must have spent all of $20 for everything!!

And it looks good and sounds better!!!

Was it rusted on?

Yeah, it's a PITA when those things won't come off. But the results are worth it!:D

I got the same ones and I love them!:D

I did the same thing as RonJ. Where I work we use 3" stainless steal tubing . I removed the mufflers and installed the pipes. Not what I would call loud at all, just a good sound comeing through the cats. Only thing is I have a convertible and the exhaust noise carries into the car rather badly. My wife has to plug one ear to use the cell phone. :( I may have to put the mufflers back on.I really wanted to get rid of those heavy mufflers and have a sweet sound. On a 50 mile drive it actually gets a little anoying. Thinking maybe figure out some sort of cutout. The complete system behind the cats comes off with only three bolts. Maybe build a system without mufflers. and have both. Thinking 10 min. tops I could switch them when I want to play hotrodder.

:lou ;LOL;LOL;LOL

I wondered where my mufflers had gone:duh........just bought my car a couple of weeks back, and quickly realized it was a little louder than normal because it only has the resonator & cats! Funny that I didn't even notice their absence when I bought the car..someone did a fairly good job replacing the mufflers with pipes..and I am fairly meticulous.....looked over the car very well, or so I thought!!! Oh, well, I like the sound, but on a long trip at around 2200-2400 rpms, the drone is really noticeable. I'll deal with it for now, though!:D

if anyone wants to do this, a local muffler shop can probably do it for less $$, and you can pick out whatever tips you want.... including keeping the stock tips. Right now I have the stock tips attached to the muffler elims. Looks stock, but doesn't sound stock :) It cost me about $80 out the door.

I was planning on getting the muffler eliminators all along before I got my '89 6-spd. recently, and the mufflers obliged by rusting off exactly within a week of each other, with my same friend in the car both times and the eliminators in a box in back waiting to be put on when the second muffler fell off! I really like them, and I got the ones from Corvette Central (LT1 tips).
