Found this deal tonight. Hopefully they will call tomorrow and I can go get it.:D

Craigslist link

If this does truly fit an '80, I think I read the Tranny crossmember needs to be changed. Is that correct? Oh and my car does have headers.

There was a Cat under there. The previous owner put a cheater pipe in and did a hack job on some of the welding. It also hangs down way lower than it should. Call me old school, but a true dual exhaust woulb be more to my liking. Besides with the work that has been done on motor it would probably free it up a little.

Can anyone tell from pics if that is close to the right shape as far as bends go?

Tried both of the links, couldn't get them to work. If you're looking for another trans though (based on the cross memeber commment) I can share what I had to do to get a 2004r into my 81. Turns about 1700 at just over 70mph now.....

The OP inserted one too many http/'s in his links.

Again, the pipes for sale are not stock pieces for an '80, they look like pipes for a '74 or earlier. In any case, they were made to bolt up to cast iron exhaust manifolds, not headers.

Actually putting in a 2004R is or was on my list of things to do. But, now the wife wants to know what it would take to convert to a 4 speed. I just told her $$$$$$$$$.

Actually, I looked at going manual, though I looked at a 5 speed conversion. It was about twice what the 2004R was! I spent about $2500 in the core and parts including the torque converter for my conversion. I added a billet OD Ring Gear, a super heavy duty rear planetary, a hardened turbine shaft, modified forward drum, heavy duty servo, billet sun shell. That added about $1000 to the build price (I did the build), but it should hold up fine behind the big block!

The core was only $40.00 so you could easily build one for about $1000 including a torque converter...

The manual conversion from the automatic was looking like it was going to be about $4500-$5000, but that was for a new Tremec 5 speed....
