Folks,

Returned to Baltimore, MD from seeing the Grand Sports. Despite the crappy weather - the Grand Sports were AWESOME! I am not sure how many of the pictures will be keepers, as the crowd was tremendous around them! Will have to play around with the digital pix on the computer. They also had some Chapparals on display next the GS's, as well as some other vintage Vetts, such as the Mako, #65 of the 1953 run, etc.

FYI - Because of rain, they had to move everything indoors and it was hard snapping pix. Normally the Concours d'Elegance is held on the fairway of the 18th hole of the golf course. The cars are laid out where photos are optimal - not so, when they had to move the cars into several tents and the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton.

BTW - if someone will walk me through how to post pix to the forums, once I get the pix cropped, etc. I will post some pix.

I was also there @ Amelia. Yes, the weather was awful (it was warmer back home), but it was quite an event. I really enjoyed the seminar on Friday (guests included Dave McLellan, Peter Brock, Bill Tower among others). It was really interesting to hear all of the stories (on and off the track) from the guys who used to race those incredible cars. I was impressed with Grand Sport #5's weight.....1908lbs. The race era of the 60's was truly a special one that will never be repeated. The restoration of Grand Sport #2 was very interesting.

Other cars worth mentioning:
1991 Jaguar XJR15 (specially built racer, sounded wicked)
1990 Ferrai F40 (my personal favorite)
1996 Lamborghini Diablo SV-R
2002 Lamborghini
1935 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster (the bids went up to 2.75 million......and still didn't meet reserve!!)
1965 Fuel injected Corvette Roadster (sold for 50,000....what a deal)

I was there too and you are correct, the Grand Sports were a beautiful sight.I just wish it would have been outside.I also liked the fuellie concept car with the candy apple red paint job:eek

C5Vetter,
Please DO post pics! If you don't have your own web site to host the photos, you have several options if you want to upload them to the CAC.
First, you could attach the photos to your posts. Note that you can only attach 1 photo per post. Also, the photos must be 65000 bytes or less.

Second, you could use the Members Gallery to host the photos. To get there, click on the Gallery link beneath the Model Center and Portal tabs at the top of the page. Each member has 700K of space for photos. I believe there may be restrictions on file sizes there also. Once the photos are in the gallery, you may link to them or imbed the images in your posts so that the photos are visible without having to open the attachment.

If you need any help just PM me and I'll be glad to assist :)
Tammy

The fuellie candy apple red concept car that was mentioned was specially made for Bill Mitchell's wife. It is a gorgeous car and I believe Mike Jaeger recently bought this car?

FYI - will probably need help posting pix as I have not posted to the forum
