2004 MY 6-speed Convertible
I'm not a Corvette Owner yet, which is why I joined a forum and the variety of content is why I joined this one. I'm in the market for a C5 Convertible and, after reading the FAQs and searching for information, I'll be asking a lot of questions that may seem simple or obvious to current owners. My search will start in earnest after the first of the year (and after I've filed my tax return). I already have a copy of the Black Book, and I've bookmarked a bunch of sites for additional research. Any advice or pitfalls to avoid will be graciously accepted and added to my data bank.

Thanks,

Mike

Welcome Mike!

Congrats on your retirement and thank you for you service. :pat

You sound like a careful and methodical planner... you've made the best possible first step by joining here. We have a wealth of information available onsite and our members are second to none in their knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to share both.

In the event you've not seen it yet, here is a link to the CAC Tech Center. Click From that page, you can access the photo gallery, the knowledgebase, articles, even a checksheet to take along when looking at a specific Corvette.

Don't hesitate to ask your questions, we're always happy to discuss our passion - Corvettes!

We'll look forward to the day you post photos of YOUR Vette.

Mike,
Jane Ann certainly covered the essentials- from the Tech Center, you'll have tons of material to read through on C5's. But feel free to stop into the C5 discussion forums- our members are always happy to help out someone seeking to know more about the Corvette ownership experience.

Welcome aboard!

:)

Welcome aboard. :upthumbs I used to hail from LP city myself. Graduated from Great Mills, then on to the service, Army.

Any questions you have I'm sure can be answered here. Not too savy on the C5's but I do know something about the C4's.

Thanks for doing your part to keep this country FREE. :beer

Mike, welcome aboard. You've come to the right place to start the journey of corvette ownership. You'll get patience and lots of answers here.

I'll also join in with a big thank you for your service.

Thanks, Jane Ann and all of the others, for the welcome. I like your Dragon reference. I drove the Dragon a couple of years ago in the G35 6-speed sedan my wife had before the Acadia. Not knowing if I'd ever drive it again, I taped the whole run (North to South). I have it on a disk and on every computer I own. When I get the Corvette, I'll go back and do it again. I'm lucky that my wife loves a manual transmission as much as I do. I look forward to my research and especially to getting the car.

Mike, you'll love the SE region crew and honorary members... we try to make a couple of Dragon runs each year. You just missed the Fall run last month... but there will likely be another for Spring08. If everything goes well, maybe you and your wife can join the group in your new C5.

Check this out. A Dragon's Tale

As noted in the C5 section, I am no longer a looker, but an owner. The forum was very helpful. I'm enjoying the car immensely, as is my wife. Unfortunately, it has pried open my wallet and sent my money to Eckler's, Mid-America, GM Parts Direct, and a couple of other places already. Did anyone else know it could do that?;shrug

This is just part of growing up or as my wife likes to say growing up through that second childhood but that will settle some. Enjoy it while you can, if it wasn't this for me it would be something else anyway :v

Hope your Holidays were Happy & Healthy and your New Year and beyond the best yet.

Yea these cars have a way of doing that. Another thing I have noticed is the "perma-grin" they put on your face when you drive them. Welcome to CAC.
