Hello my name is Frank and this is my first post. I have a 1990 L98 (Auto). I may have some good news to your wallet with regard to the moaning problem that you've written in regard to.
It sounds like nothing but the ABS cycling check. Mine has done this since new and it is normal.
It cycles after the car is parked for a period of time and then the car is put into a forward gear and you take off. It's not a problem, if I'm counting correctly the cycle on last for about 4 seconds. Save your money...that's normal operation of the ABS.
Hopefully this puts you at ease Rick, don't throw good money to the wind buddy! Research proper ABS functioning, you'll see that you may not have a problem at all buddy! I'm not giving the definitive only because I don't have a 1992 C4, but hopefully someone with one or a later one can chime in for peace of mind's sake.
