Well I dont know if I messed up but here goes. When I put my engine in and installed the clutch assembly I may have messed up.When I shift the car into gear and depress the clutch {engine not running} the rear wheels move still even the clutch pedal is pushed to the floor. My question is, if I by mistake put the clutch disc in backwards will it cause the clutch not to disengage? When I put the linkage back together all of it went back together with no trouble. At the moment im turning the engine by hand while sombody depresses the clutch and the wheels still turn, and the clutch was the one that was in it and it was fine before.Im having more trouble than this worth. :(

As I recall from a fupa when I was young and put the clutch disc in backwards, when I engaged the clutch it sounded like the world was under attack from screaming creatures. The sound was unmistakable!!

I haven't progressed much since then, but I've learned a lot from my younger days of trial and error :eyerole I would do a mental inventory of the re-install, from the pilot bushing through the throw out bearing and the clutch fork installation. (I've seen the throwout bearing installed Backwards with similar effect)

There is an adjustment for the clutch pedal, if you open the hood and look down along the fender you will see a threaded rod that can be adjusted to allow the clutch to engage/release at different heights from the floor board.. If nothing changed during the re-install it could be just an adjustment.

Hopefully someone with more recent experience or an actual mechanic will chime in ;)

I'm no mechanic but I vote for checking the clutch linkage adjustment. If you took the shifter out then there are a lot of things that could have gone wrong. I cheat and check the easiest things first, even though with me it is a waste of time cause it seems it mostly turns out I made some other mistake. tt72

If the disc was in backwards, the springs would probably hit the flywheel, and you'd hear it. Adjust the upper clutch rod so you have about 1" or so of pedal free play at the top of travel and let us know what happens.
