Hey lt4 gs.

Everytime you post I get this black residue on the inside of my screen.

:bu :bu :bu :bu

Justin,
Leave it the way it is. These are real special vettes and rare. Wish I had one but could only afford the LT1 94 coupe.

Justin,

I got in on this post late as I've just returned from vacation. I do have to add my 2 cents worth, though, as I'm a GS owner:)

I can't believe you'd even kid about re-painting a GS!!! Why would you (or anyone else for that matter) paint a GS a different color after spending all that $$???:confused The Admiral Blue with Artic White stripes and red hashmarks ARE part of what makes a Grand Sport a Grand Sport!! You would certainly be wasting your money and, at the same time, diminishing the number of the original 1,000 GS's...of course, that would make those left worth even more!!:D

No more kidding, huh?!!

Elaine

yall seen the vette that has all wierd painting on it right (there are like 8 threads about it on this site)? i think it is a 93 or 94, it was at carlisle this augest. Im wondering what yall would do if that was a GS and you crossed paths with that cars owner in a dark alley! :L:L:L:L

Good job Diva........

Elaine....I was reading the new Corvette Fever and just want to give you kuddos :upthumbs for the letter you wrote correcting them on the number of GS convertibles made. Good job...

Justin.....even that idiot with the multi-painted Vette at Carlisle knows better than to paint a GS any other color.

Kerry,

Thanks! I expect 99% of Corvette owners don't know the number of GS coupes and convertibles made, but I do expect Corvette Fever to do their homework before finalizing an article! My response was all in jest, though!

Elaine

wow, i even knew there was 1000 GS made, and there are like 270 verts right? im not sure about the vert/coupe amount.

There were 810 coupes and 190 convertibles...no more, no less!

I knew yall were gona flame for the very thought of changing the paint of a GS :L i was the only one that voted yes, hoping maby someone else would change thier mind, but even with the 1 yes noone else has :L put your minds at ease tho, I was only going to paint the GS if yall were like"thats a great idea". if noone posted i would of went with the LT4 idea, and since you are so strong about it, even if i get a GS i would not change the paint. but im sure there is someone out there that changed the paint of the GS, or maby just painted over the hashmarks because they didnt like it:eek

not sure why you would want to do that :confused

But even more so ,why do you care what anyone else thinks about a car you own( or want to own). If you buy it, it's yours plain and simple. do what makes you happy. Your the one making payments and paying for insurnace and maintenance. don't be swayed by others people opinion ( including mine) Do what makes you happy, you'll be the one driving it. If you do ,just make sure to get your orange wig, red nose and big clown shoes on

I love the GS paint scheme.. I couldn't afford one being I'm only 21 and I am just starting out in my career... well actually I've been in it 3 years but still not making much yet anyhow back on subject..

I bought a 95 admiral blue I think it's the best year because it has the 95/96 "gills" and it only partial ODBII and has the MAF sensor all makes for easier mod-ing..

I've kicked around the idea of having "ghost" hash marks painted on the hood/fender or maybe seeing how much the decals are so I could just have them layed over the paint and make it a GS clone LoL.. any Ideas?

Rick, If you want to see how the hash marks will look on your car, they cost only $25 for a set in the Mid America catalog. They come in several colors, I think red, white, black and green. Look in the "exterior" section of the catolog.
What do you mean about only partial OBDII on the '95. What's the diff between your '95 and my '94??

Well first I was thinking I would like the "Ghost" painted hash marks better but that is was down the line from now.. due to money and other things needing to come first...

Now for the difference between you 94 and my 95 well yours is white.. LoL just being a smart ass.. but anyway I was thinking more like 95 was the last year for partial odbII yours and mine are pretty much the same I am not 100% shure but I think 94 also had sequentialy fired injectors but as for how it's half odbII well for example our cars 94/95 use some of the ODBII codes, they also do not have the other post cat O2 sensor on the left bank.. which I always thought was funny because why did they put one on the right bank pass side that is if it doesn't throw a code when the CAT effciency is low.. I know mine hasn't because someone removed the media in the cat and it hasn;t thrown a code yet.. See I prefer the non ODBII pre 96 that is because of the way they test emissions around here.. any way back on subject..

the guy who stated he wanted a red GS with blue stripe with green hash marks.. nothing against you and it's cool if thats what you want to do but my .02 I think that would look like something out of a Dr. Seus book.. LoL I dunno just doesn't sound like it would look good.. but hey what ever floats your boat and it's a vette so more power to ya..

The red hashmarks are vinyl decals as are the small white pinstripes. The Skunk stripe is painted.

FWIW

Are the white pinstripes under the clearcoat at least? I thought they were all decals but that they were painted over. Typically if GM two-tones something, it is on separate body panels, not two colors on the same panel. I believe the 2004 CE Z06 is also all decals, though I hope they are under the clear. :w

then i think the new paint would be worth more than the old paint, for these 2 reasons

1. the paint would be new, taken care of, and polished/waxed
2. it would be unique. i have not yet seen or heard of a GS with those colors.

1. Paint that is original, taken care of, and polished/waxed will almost always be more valuable than new paint of the same.

2. Uniqueness is valuable from the factory, or possibly from a respected aftermarket company. Uniqueness from some owner = worth less than the car was when stock, and it means there is a much smaller pool of people who'll even consider buying it at all.

Also, though it sounds like you won't do this, you don't need a GS or a CE. Any 1996 Corvette with a 6-speed will have an LT-4. You could buy one that's already red, then just put the stripes on it. :)

Holy crap!! Sorry for the ressurection! For some reason this was showing up on the first page of threads for me, so I assumed it was moderately recent! Sorry!! :(
