LT4 GS / LT4 Ignition Wires

I'm trying to find replacement ignition wires (plugs and coil) for my '96 Grand Sport. The wires that are on it are red and I believe are original to the car. One parts guy I've spoken with told me all he has are gray wires. Another fellow told me that I can get red wires, but that their very expensive.

Does anyone have experience with this or have a reasonably priced source of the correct wires?

The only "correct" wires I'm aware of are genuine GM, and they are somewhat expensive. I replaced mine due to heat damage from exhaust manifold, and went with MSD. They're red like the factory originals, albeit larger in diameter so the stock wire looms won't work very well. They also seem to perform better than the stock wires.

Dealerships want $180 for the LT4 OEM red wires.
The Last Detail has them for $99 bucks when I ordered mine last year. I would not consider that expensive since it will fit properly unlike the headaches you can have with aftermarket stuff. Taylor and the others will run you around $70 bucks.

Thanks for the ideas. I know of at least one LT-4 owner who had a defective set of aftermarket wires, so I want to stick with OEM style. As I understand it, if the wire between the coil and the Optispark is not up to snuff, the Optispark will not last long.

I've never been to the Last Detail's web site, but I'll check it out.

I bought a set of Red Taylor Spiral Pro wires from Summit catalogue, and am pleased with them. I also had to drill out the wire seperators to fit the bigger wires.

Taylor wires for me also, no problems so far. Also went with AC Rapidfire # 14 plugs at the same time. Thunder Racing in Baton Rouge, La. has the wires for about $60.
