GT1 CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION ANNOUNCED FOR 2009
Breaking News – Members, Tom Hill, Quality Engineering Manager of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, announced on Saturday night, January 24, 2009 to the crowd present at the NCRS Awards Banquet in Kissimmee, Florida that a GT1 Championship Edition would be built starting this Spring. The 2009 GT1 Championship Edition would be available in Coupe, Convertible and Z06 models. They will include your choice of 45U Velocity Yellow or 41U Black exterior paint with C6.R graphics inspired by our victorious Pratt & Miller Racing Team. This striping package will have a familiar "JAKE" theme running through the Black and Silver design. A very unique feature will include graphics that will have the driver's names on the roof just like the C6.R has. Of course the Championships that the C6.R has won will be displayed on a lower door script graphic. The uniqueness continues with Black headlamps on the Velocity Yellow models including Genuine Corvette Accessories use on the body with colored door handles and a carbon patterned engine cover.
All models will include the ZR1 full width spoiler in body color, Q9V Forged Chrome Wheels (export models will only have QG7 Polished Wheels), Z51 Performance Package and NPP Performance Exhaust for Coupe and Convertible. Each will receive a distinctive yellow windshield banner for installation.

All models will have exclusive GT1 embroidery on the seats and console lid. Ebony 4LT (Coupe and Convertible) and 3LZ (Z06) interiors and shifter will be accentuated with yellow stitching. Included will be a Special Console Trim Plate with specific VIN sequencing and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Options reportedly available will include C2L Dual Roof Panels for the Coupe, U3U Navigation on all models, and MX0 6-speed paddle shift automatic on Coupe and Convertible.:thumb
Our best guess at prices at release time are:
  • Coupe $65,500
  • Convertible $72,000
  • Z06 $86,500
Expect limited production.

i dont see any vette looks, i see nascar....

I don't see any sponsor decals, or numbers. If you mean they look like race cars, then I agree.

Is that a bad thing to try and emulate with our cars? why else would their be such a big demand for spoilers, and carbon fiber accessories for vettes. 90 percent of these pieces being sold are faux carbon and serve no purpose other than to make it look like a race car.

I know, I bought my vette, because I feel like I’m driving a detuned racecar on the street, and that’s what others think when they see my car.

I have loved Corvettes since 1957, but what ever year I'm looking at, it's the customs, and personalized models that I’m drawn to.

I personalize my car to match my personality, and likes.

At car shows their is nothing more boring than to look at perfectly stock, immaculately clean cars, that are driven once a month to a car show. (If it didn't rain in the previous twenty four hours.) The only exceptions are 57 fuelie, 4 speeds.

I'd love to put a big, race car number on the side of my car, but I don't have the baii's.

That Corvette Decal thingy's for the 09s is only BAIT FOR THE COPS (will it make the car faster :boogieI don't think so!! :upthumbs although the kiddies will love it.:chuckle BURP!!! excuse me !!!
Come on G.M. you can do better then this with that $$14 BILLION $$$ BAIL-OUT ;help

Well, I do not know about you but me and my 1981 Vette go to shows all summer long. I drie it when ever I can in the Summer and put it to Hibernate in the winter months. Corvetts are meant to drive, not to go around on trailers !!!

Save the Wave:w

I don't know why they can't paint real strips and clear coat over them instead of the cheap decal strips. Everytime they come out with some sort of special edition , they have to cheapen it up with decals or tape.
It does'nt compliment the Vette at all.

Decals

I think that deep down inside all of us at this site; there resides a little kid called Ricky Racer. These should appeal to that part of us.:beer

Is the plant open?

Did Tom Hill talk about the plant being open for production, or is this model built in a special "Skunkworks" facility for the Racers?

Doug Fehan explained on Oct 23 ay the PETERSEN MUSEUM "Tribute to Corvette Racing" that the 2009 season was full speed ahead.

Last I heard was that Bowling Grenn Plant was closed until mid April. Any honest updates ?
