Does anyone really nead a car like the Z06, No! But do you want a car like the Z06? You bet your [snip] you do!:cool
Okay, okay, you got me there!

Maybe it is a long-term itch that will be scratched some day...

For the present, though, I am still loving my C6 - 7,000 miles, not a drop of oil used, or other concern... :w

As Corvettes with 500 or more horse power are far from rare it would be very interesting to see how a modified C5 would stack up against a C6 Z-06.

IMHO the C6 Z-06 cant be beat for the value and complete package you get as compared to the prospect of putting lots of mods on a stock C6.

I just wish the top came off, and after a few years with depreciation on Corvettes being what it is the Z-06 will be an even better value on re-sale.

My 0.02 cents

I started out in Oct 2005 saying that I would only pay Sticker for a 2006Z or I would keep my 2003Z. Then for months I followed the c6Z on the net, mags, speed channel and well..this thing is for real. Then I too got rapped up with dealers that ...basically ..would not sell to you. The car would come in and either you paid 30K above or it went to ebay. SO I marched right down to a dodge dealer and drove a viper. YUCK. I would not consider giving up mt 2003Z for the viper and the viper was 86K but the dealer would discound about 3K.

Then I get hooked up with a dealer in MD. They got 2 Z's coming. I ask for a straight forward deal and I get it...10K above list. I put the silver one on hold with a right of refusal when it gets in (mind you I have a near perfect credit rating). Car comes in ..I test drive...holy crap.

Trust me this 2006 Z06 is much more of a car then the viper. So I make MY OWN judgement about what it is worth...and 81K fit perfect (MSRP 70191).

Think of this....For me at 50 years old when you want to talk about legendary engines that pushed the muscle cars I think of:
For Ford you think 429 cobra jet
For Plymouth/Dodge the 426 Hemi
For Chevy you think of the 427...

Could I wait a year and HOPE the mark up goes away..sure. My car (the 2003 Z) goes down in value and why would the general not mark up the price (as every one is predicting). What happens when after next year they stop producing the 427 or start mas producing the 427s?

I turned 18 in 1974 when new cars were crap. The only thing in life that I EVER felt cheated out of was the fact that I would NEVER have a chance at buying a new 1969 Z28 or a Cuda, or a LS6 Chevelle or what ever legendary cars make your world go up.

Well I for one was not going to miss this opportinuity to buy a true boss car just to "show those greed dealers a thing or two"

PS The list price of the ZR1 in the 90's was upper 60's. Considering inflation and what you are getting in the new Z 10K above sticker is a bargan
In My opinion ...if you had 120K to spend on a new performance machine AND NOT ONE DIME MORE...You would have to drop down and consider...and probably choose...a 2006 Z

Very Wise

Nucferr,

You demonstrated wisdom and rational thinking. I hope you drive it anytime you are in the mood... regardless of the weather... as I do mine !

Life is too short to waste time and allow a Corvette to sit silent when we are in the mood.

You are right.. I just pick mine up last Saturday and boy was it raining.......I was considering leaving it at the dealer or roll back and then said what the hell..If it gets wet/dirty now I will know if it cleans up...

It does

Life is short and I was not going to blow this 'second"chance at owning a legend

bottom line

All BS aside, if I could afford the best car for the dollar(2006 Z06), it would have been in my garage yesterday. There is no better car. nuff said. :lou
