So I made an appointment at the local place to have my first alignment done. Now, don't get off on me about what equipment, because out here in the sticks, there ain't any. I was lucky to find a shop anywhere close.
Of course, it's pouring rain when I get up to go, but had the appointment and I figured I am going to wash her this weekend anyhow.
Get in, turn the key, and all the interior lights stay on after the start. No "Door Ajar" or other idiot lights. Played with all the doors and the hatch, no change. Was getting late, so I drove to the alignment place with the lights on.
I mentioned it to them while I was there, and after the alignment, we played around with it a bit. Couldn't see anything wrong with the hatch, but the guy did spy a piece of material off to the side of the hatch closed sensor switch. Sure enough, there was a piece of felt, or something like it, that had slipped off. Put it back on and all is OK.
So, should there be a piece of felt on top of the switch, or did some previous owner put it on to get around a problem?
PS, the wheel alignment went fine.
