Hi there,
I was thinking of replacing the weatherstrip on my C3 before we get to Auburn in May (She wont be fast, might as well be pretty). :)
Been thinking about this for a while (over the winter, the garage has NO heat, so i didnt even attempt). Here is what i think i know ;) :
I found the strip (TLD-Corvette is the cheapest), but i cant seem to find the struts (or lifts or gas filled lifters or whatever they are called these days) that lift the hatch.
I know i'll need the remover and the glue (yellow, i think), anything else you can think of ?
How do i carefully remove the old lift/struts ? I had tried adjusting the hatch previously and put some nasty scratches on the back deck.
Can i take the whole hatch off, replace the weatherstrip and then adjust the hatch ? Any tips?
I cant seem to find the lifters/struts in any online Vette shop, where do i find the correct ones for a 82CE? At a Napa store ?

Any help you guys and gals can give me is appreciated. I want to do this right so it looks nice.. ;)

Thanks in advance!
Stefan

PS: I threw this in General Corvette, cause i figured, not a lot of 82CE's are floating about these days, maybe a C4 owner has done this ?

you may try to match up the struts at your local auto parts store, I don't have a hatch so I cant be much help

Stefan,

Check out the 82 CE Registry they may be able to give you some specific help on your CE. The only person I know from over there is Johnny Biffle, around Nashville area..

Completly forgot about the 82 CE Registry after their website went kaploooey a bit ago. And lookey, talk about struts and hinges and hatch stuff..

I'll remember the next time !
Order for the shocks is in (Ecklers of all places), we shall see when they arrive.. Pow they are expensive $189 for the pair.. Because of my previous experience i didnt look at Ecklers.. Another lesson learned..
Thanks for the teaching Master Yoda!
