I have a 2004 Z06 that I will changing the oil on and I don't have the shop manual yet, so I was wondering if anyone knew if the procedures and torque specs are all still the same. Specially because the PF44 is now PF46. . .

This is what I got (post on my web site www.corvettecavalry.com)

IMPORTANT: In order to completely drain the oil from the pan internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level
from side to side and slightly leaned forward during oil drain procedure. Allow a MINIMUM of 7 minutes for the engine oil
to fully drain, once the engine oil drain plug and the engine oil filter are removed.

1) Remove the engine oil drain plug and allow oil to drain.
2) Remove the engine oil filter and allow any remaining oil to drain.
3) Fill new oil filter with some of the new oil and oil the new oil filter gasket.
4) Install new oil filter, tighten to 22 foot-pounds (30 Newton-meters). (this will seem very tight)
5) Reinstall oil drain plug and tighten to 18 foot-pounds (25 Newton-meters).
6) Put the new oil in. (use Mobil 1, 5W30 (6.0 to 6.5 quarts))
7) Wait a MINIMUM of 3 minutes for the new oil to fully fill the engine oil pan internal baffling.
8) Run the engine for 3 minutes and thoroughly inspect the oil filter and drain plug for leaks.
9) Allow engine to cool for a minimum of 3 minutes.
10) Check engine oil level.
11) Top-off the engine oil to full mark on DIP STICK. (if needed)

Well, first oil change is done. I followed the old procedures. . . I'll be getting the shop manuals when they are available. . .

I didn't notice any differences in the oil change procedure between my 98 and my 03. The only thing different now is buying the PF-46 instead of the PF-44.

I had my oil and filter changed on my 2003.....$46 and change.....I guess if you can afford to buy a 2003 I shouldn't complain about the cost of the oil change....

did you tell the guy that changed your oil to fill the filter before he put it back on the engine so when they start the engine the bearings see oil pressure right away, not after the filter has time to refill. prefilling the filter takes several tries because it takes a few mimutes for the oil to soak into the filter paper.
