I want to replace my carpet in my 1994 Vette. Has Anybody out there ever done this task to their Vette? Would like some input on how hard it was and where you might have bought your carpet from.
Thanks

DID THE REAR CARPET AND REPLACED THE MATS. GOT THEM FROM ECKLERS. BUT YOU CAN GET THEM FOR LESS AT MID AMERICA OR ONE OF THOSE GUYS ON THE LEFT OF YOUR SCREEN WHEN YOU READ THESE POSTS. NOT DIFFICULT TO DO. BUT WON'T ATTEMPT THE MAIN CARPET CAUSE I AM AFRAID TO REMOVE THE SEATS. I HEARD STORIES THAT GUYS HAD TO DRILL OUT THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE SEATS IN. ( BUT I DID CHANGED THE SEATS WITHOUT REMOVING THE BRACKETS) AND YOU HAVE TO REMOVE BOTH SEAT BRACKETS AND THE CONSOLE. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T PUT A DAMPER ON YOU DOING THE CARPET. I WILL POST PICS ASAP GOOD LUCK:w

It is actually easier than you think, be sure to order some new underlay. The seats are not a big deal to change, there is four bolts and just remember to unplug your power seats before removing. You have to remove a few plastic pieces from the back and the speaker covers and the plastic around the center console, but it is well worth it in the end.

Be careful removing the console sides, they are brittle and can easily break. Also, be careful around the gas pedal bracket, with the slightest bump it will break and it's not repairable, you have to buy a new one. It was designed for up-and-down movement, not side-to-side. It took me two days to put in new carpet on my old c4, but I also added sound deadener when I did it. Be prepared to cut your carpet, it's not all pre-cut. I used 3m adhesive for the parts that need to be glued, but most of it just lays down without adhesive. It's a big job.

I had my 91 vert carpets replaced professionally thru a Chevy dealer in January. The installers said they had done corvettes before, but I don't believe it. They put too much padding in the rear and the vert top would not go down far enough to allow the deck lid to close when I tried it in May. Had to rip out a lot of padding. So, be carefull on installing the rear padding if you have a roadster. The installers also shorted out my interior lights, alarm system, and other fuses with their careless approach and I swear that they laid carpet on the paint as there were swirles there that were not present when I took it in. Totalled the car in June, so didn't have a chance to correct the faults.
