This morning while tuning off my headlights, I experianced a loud grinding nosie on the left side. I assume it is a loose motor or somthing. It will be at the dealer AGAIN so I will post the results.

Same thing happened on my 98 C5.

Sounded like something was tearing through the hood for about 10 seconds after turning off the lights.

Motor replacement did the trick!

Motor replacement? How much does that cost for someone that has a car out of warranty? Can the motor be rebuilt like the C4?

Go to www.corvetteforum.com and do a search for light motor repair. There is a man named Mera who makes a brass gear replacement for the plastic gear that always breaks.:D :D

If the assembly is anything like the C4 motor, which it looks exactly alike, the bronze gear is a waste of money. The plastic gear doesn't break. There is a $5 bushing kit that fits inside the plastic gear to keep contact with the worm gear drive. I'd rather spend $5 versus $60. I would have to replace the worm bushings 12 times for the cost of one bronze gear.
