Head Turner C5 vs C3 ?

Doesn't matter if they running down the street or sitting in a parking lot. I have walked out of the store many times with 2 or 3 people walking around it...pumping gas is always an expierence too. Seems to be all ages!

I bought a c3 based on looks alone. It was in lousy condition, but still a head turner. First time in my life that a gas station attendant came out to look at and talk to me about my car.

I've never owned a C5, but I grew-up with C3s (and wouldn't be caught DEAD in a C4.....)
:(

I hope to get a C5 someday as a weekend get-away car, while keeping my '82 as my weekend toy, and the '80 will (hopefully) become my retirement race-car.

The C5s are too-new and plentiful to be classified as "head-turners":
my wimpy Cross-Fire draws plenty attention, due to it's outrageous bodylines.

I wholeheartedly agree with this! When I was a kid in the 70's, my Mom had a '73 Corvette (Dad had a '70 Olds 442 and a '76 Trans Am 455) There was just nothing else like it. If I seem rude to new Vette owners, it's because I don't recognize them. The C1 - C3's you can spot a mile away, but the newer ones seem to be indistinguishable from other cars. I mistake the C4's for Mazdas and Trans Ams, and the C5's remind me of A Mitsubishi. I'm not knocking these cars or the people who own and drive them, that's what they grew up adoring or could 'finally afford a new one' It took me til 5 months ago to finally buy a Corvette, I kinda got sidetracked by a thing called life. But now I'm a happy C3 owner, if I get another Corvette it will be another C3 too. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Style-wise, C4 = stretch-wheelbase RX7
:(

:upthumbs I agree .......C-1 thru C-3 I own both and I like all Corvettes and the people who drive them......just my dollars worth and my neighbors checkbook......:D

I think the C3 models get more attention from the general population, because they are not seen as much on the street as the C4 and C5 models. More owners drive their C4 and C5 year round, even in snowbelt states. I never see a model built before 1984 on the streets of Chicagoland during the winter months. Very rare if I do. Also, if you have a really nice example of a C3 cruising around town, people will notice, because their curious about it. Just my opinion.

I love every year of every generation. Some more than others, but that is how most true enthusiasts feel about America's greatest sports car....They're all great and were great in there time.

Hey Dan,

Maybe you are just hanging out at Streets of Woodfield too much??? ;LOL

I like my 71. Nothing special about it. I've gone through a lot of the car but have yet to do paint and body. I'm the 2nd owner of an all original but most importantly I like that style. Love those chrome bumpers! Looks good going down the road!

A C5 or a C3??? Tuff choice

Which one turns more heads? Depends on whos head you want to turn. If I am out on the town for a night, out on a date, looking for a woman :D , hands down it's the C5. Women love the car, no doubt about it. But now it's Saturday afternoon, bright day out. Want to turn everybodys head? I take my C3. I have not met anybody who does not like to look at it. ....ahhh, the life of being single....:upthumbs

Everytime I take her out, I get at least one smile, thumbs up or a wave. Seems like more since the C6 came into the limelight.

I grew up thinking the C3's was a preview of a wilder shape of Vette's to come in the future (remember all the wild concept drawings in the car magazines of the 70's!). Now I'm starting to appreciate more the cool retro future of the shark...of a future styling that might of been. Not the Vette we know now is bad or anything, just a different path. :)
