I'm about to install headers on my '87 and have been talking to as many people as possible for hints. There is some debate over which gaskets I should use. One group recomends "Solid Copper only" to prevent leaks. The other group insists that copper is a waste of money and told me to soak the gaskets in hot water.

What do you think?

I use only Earl's "Pressure Master" gaskets. They come with replaceable inserts for the aluminum (?) frame so you don't have to spend as much each time you have the headers off. The pliable insert compresses when you tighten the header bolts and should never have to be tightened again, thereby eliminating the need for locking fasteners. Highly recommended! :upthumbs

By the way, they also have the collector gaskets designed the same way.
