does anyone have any recomendations for headers to put in a mostly stock L98?

What do I do with the 02 sensor if I discard the front Y-pipe?

I looked at the headers at TPIS and noticed they came with a 3 inch Y-pipe. Isn't that a little big for my engine? (what is a EGR feed tube and why do I need it?)

thanks,

Will

Hooker 2149 + 16720 Y-pipe
This is what i'm getting, but I'm getting it in 1.75" primary size. (for future mods)
For a L98, or a 350, you probably wouldnt NEED more than 1 5/8" primaries.

3" Y isnt too big, its just about right.

The thing about the 2149 is that it has the AIR pipe fittings and an O2 sensor bung, and comes ceramic coated. Some other headers will require you to weld the bung from the old pipe, if theyre already ceramic coated-that can be a bit of a problem/nuisance.

From what Ive read, the headers made by most manuf. require the 88-91 EGR feed tube, which is different from the 86-87. It bolts up differently than the stocker, but its not a problem. Only it costs more than it should, so i heard.

But you cant discard the O2, it and the MAF are the two most important sensors on the car.

I have the 1 3/4 " tpis longtube headers, without the egr connections :D

too big? Nooooooooooooooooooooo

Forgetting emissions for a second, Are the EGR connections absolutely necessary? (I noticed that only TPIS mentions them)

BTW - there are no emission laws where I live :D

no

And in the Netherland we know different emmissions for older cars, so I do noy need it. The same with my cats too.

Thanks Johnny!

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the TPIS headers. :( (I was searching previous posts about headers)

I'm definitely leaning towards the Hooker headers.

TPIS

The damage was made by not using the right bolts :( but tpis has promesed them to aluminum coeated again for free! Maby I will........
