How do you remove the button on the dash for the headlamps, without breaking it or the switch.

One tiny screw driver is all that is needed, insert it into the small area where you can see a little metal tang and push it back (in the same direction) as you pull the knob.

I think that's how I did it.

thats it..........make sure the switch is fully pulled out and have someone in the back to catch it when it flies off.

There is a little slot(front of car to rear) about the size of a small screwdriver in the plastic that may or may not have a metal catch in there, I have not looked. Is that the area that you are talking about. Is there any trick to getting the button back on?

No trick at all, just push it on and it will lock, once you get it off you will see.

Well I found that I could not get it off because the previous owner epoxied the sw to the lever. That must have been done when the owner installed the wood dash. Thanks for all the help

Bubba has been to town...:W

Sorry to hear that. You could always order a new knob and break the old one off.

Well I did not have to remove the whole dash, just needed enough room to get the center radio stack cover off. I was able to get the speedo area moved around while still having the knob attached, it was not easy but not too bad. I think I may need a switch as well as a knob so I wont be fixing that one.
