Headlamps for UK

I haven't been here for a while, after 3 x C5's, I decided to try something else, after a Beemer Z4 and a Boxster I just can't wait to get into a C6...
I need some tech advice please .. I intend to buy a car in Germany where the cars are cheaper but where they drive on the right... what do I have to do to get the beams to dip to the left for the UK roads. Is there an adjustment lever or do I need new units like the C5? If I need new lamps can anyone tell me how much I should need to spend to sort this?

I had an american spec 911 in the UK and they put some kind of decal on the lights to get it through MOT. It apparently blocked the light from going into the oncoming traffic. I dont know if that would work on these lights but it would be a cheap fix. You will need to install side markers, but I bet all the Euro cars will have them from the factory. Post pics when you get it!

AintQik, thanks for your interest.
The import legislation requires that: "Any Headlamps will need to be replaced or adjusted to produce the required dipped beam for left-hand traffic. The alignment requirement must be met without the use of masks, beam converters or adapters...", you were lucky to get away with it! So I feel unless they can be adjusted internally I will need to modify or replace what's there.

From your profile you have an 05 6sp is that a C6, do you need the kick of a donkey to press the clutch down or is it light? all my C5's were autobox. This is a change of subject from Headlamps but still important to me as most of the cars available are 6 speed.

The clutch is hydraullic so its very friendly. Not difficult to press at all.

I wonder why they let me get away with the stickers? Do you think it had something to do with the fact that I was military and they knew the dumb American was leaving eventually. All of us at the base with German or American spec cars had the stickers.

I will look at the cat tonight and see if there is an adjustment.

Scotland is my favorite place on earth by the way. I could not imagine drving my C6 through the highlands on one of the rare nice dry days. That would be insane. I spent many a night in Edinburough and up in the highlands tramping around the 3 sisters.

I know how they can be. Where abouts in the Highlands do you live? Must be fun driving with some great roads.

I live in the Southern Highlands just north of Perth (30 miles north of Edinburgh) by the river Tay where the best Scottish Salmon breeds, close to the Whisky Trail. The winter Snowline starts at my house, one of the first to get it and one of the last to go! My route to work is on a lot of single carriage road and I have as much chance of hitting a deer as another car. There are some good fun roads though and many Car companies come up here for Press Road tests and pre-production testing. I've not seen a C6 in the UK yet, there are a few sold and although I have a friend with a C5 we hardly ever see one of those either...Corvettes are a bit special here... So now tell me about Baton Rouge!

Nice part of the country Tony, the Tay is a great river. I have spent a lot of summer holidays in Aberfeldy, Pitlochery, Dunkeld etc (my mother is from Glasgow). I did not own a Vette then but can imagine driving some of those single track winding roads!!!!!!!!! There are not many C6's in Baton Rouge at the moment though I have seen the occasional one. Its kinda flat here and in order to find good driving roads you really need to go out of state but I did find a few back rounds around the Amite river that have a few twists and turns. I can however drive my vettes all year round which is a big plus. One thing you will find with the C6 vs the C5 is it actually has descent lights where you can see where the hell you are going at night so I hope you get your questions answered on the lighting. When I went for a factory tourI saw different Vettes that were destined for places like japan etc and they all had customised lighting so I am sure there must be some suitable for the UK.
