Anyone have an idea where I can get a headlight access cover for my 2001. Its the little black plastic cover on the side of the headlight that allows you to get to the bulbs. I have one of them missing on my 01.
Thanks,
Ed

yea, its a well known problem. The initial design is a plug that merely pushes into the opening. It was re-designed to accomodate a plug with 'ears' so it twists and locks in place. Unfortunately, its use requires the replacement of the headlight bezels. Total cost for 2 bezels and plugs is around $25 and can be had from any Chevy delaer's Parts counter.

There is a TSB on it, try the CAC tech library, but the Parts guy will be able to get you what you need without the TSB info, same part # fits all C5's

Had the same thing happen on my '99. As said above, had to replace both bezels with later model to accept revised plugs. Got them from local dealership.

If it's just the round plug, when mine went missing on me after washing the car one Saturday, I got a spare from my local dealer for $5.00.

It is just the round plug. I figured it was pretty cheap, just need to put my hands on one. I'll try my local chevy dealership.

Thanks all.

Hey Ed,

Good luck getting one from the dealer. GM no longer makes the old design. You might try a salvage yard. If nothing else, post in the C5 parts section on this and any forum you can. Someone may be replacing the bezels and have ONE plug available.

I changed out mine, it was cheap and took 5 minutes.

???? Lost me, sorry

Silver98, that's a "hip-hop" way of saying he agrees with you. We'll start worrying only if Vetmaniac starts break-dancing on us. :L

Patrick,

Thanks. I hate getting ... er... ummm, out of aahhh, touch. yea that's it.

Well, I think that's psychadelic, yea, that's it.

Kids, huh, got a language all their own. Glad us flower children didn't have one.

Flower children? :L

I guess I should break the news now: I'm a bit young to be included in that demographic. I'm Gen-X, agewise. Growing up, I had to serve as an interpreter between my sister and my parents when my sister was going through her "Valley Girl Speak" phase in the '80s. ;LOL

Patrick,

I didn't mean you were one, I am as I'm sure others on here are. Either way though, thanks for the interpretation.

If its just replacing the black plastic housing that the circular plug fits in, I don't have a problem with that, especially if it fixes the problem. I don't necessarily need the old style plug without the "ears". Thanks for all your help.

Look around

My plug was missing when I got my C5. One day as I was cleaning her I found the plug had fallen and was just sitting below the headlamp assembly. You may want to look around to see if yours fell off and is still in there below the headlamp assembly too.
