Headlight Cover Removal

I have a cracked cover on my headlight and bought a replacement. When I went to take the other one off I had trouble accessing the screws on the sides both when they were open and closed. Do I have to take the whole assembly apart or can I take just the covers off. Either way how can it be done and what tools do I need to make this as easy as possible?

When I took the cover off my 89 I used the knob to manually open it part way to a point where it was easy to get at the screw.

You're right I just realized that as well. I will try this tomorrow and get back if it does not work, it definitely should though. Thanks.
