The headlight door on my 1984 Corvette needs to be aligned side to side. I know how to align them up and down, but does anyone know how to align side to side? My door is rubbing on the hood, which is preventing the headlight from operating properly. Thanks.

With the hood up and the headlights on, you can get to a screw on the inside (radiator side) of the headlight cover. This has worked loose on mine before causing the headlight door to rub and jam (I finally had to put some high-strength glue in the hole before replacing the screw). Could your screw be missing or loose?

Yes, over time the screws can become loose, it happened on my headlights. You can pretty much eyeball it, loosen all the screws and move it around while observing that there is an equidistant gap all the way around from the hood side, then tighten up. The headlight panel itself can also be adjusted, this is the side that sits flush with the hood when the headlight is closed. I see a lot of them on ebay that are misaligned, it just takes a screwdriver to straighten them back up again.

I would recommend Locktite rather than glue. You might need to remove it some day.

Good idea! I'll try that next time. Thanks!
