Headlight door motor slips

Before I tear into this, I thought I would ask the group.

My right H/L motor continues to run after the door closes. It eventually stops ini about 10 seconds, but the thumb wheel turns freely after it stops in the one direction, whereas the other door's thumbwheel is "tight", so it seems like something is slipping internally.

Are there adjustments? Or is the motor unit bad?

Thanks for the tips. Just thought I would try the lazy way for an explanation, versus checking the service manual!

Too easy!

Now, this has to be the quickest diagnosis ever performed on a Corvette. Probably the cheapest, er, most cost effective, to boot.

I won't even bother tearing this apart until I have received the order all 6 of the bushings, then do both sides at the same time!

I never even had time to check the service manual this weekend!

Thanks.

Oh yes.. a tricky point

Mark the alignment of the motor casings BEFORE you take em off ( which you will have to do on one side) It will save you the embarasement of one light going UP while the other goes down. ( I did that on mine.)

The motors are DC controled and the casings have magnets in em... reverse the magnetic feild... you reverse direction.

Vig!
