We purchased a new headlight knob that came with the pull rod already attached. the old knob came off the exsisting rod when we pushed on the clip but the new knob has a different clip that sits farther back and we can not get it off, the man who sold us the knob with the rod attached claims there is a button on the switch that is spring loaded that you push and the knob and rod come out of the switch. We can not even get under there to see if this is true and would like anybody who has changed this knob to give us some advise.THIS IS A 1988 CORVETTE

THANK YOU

75 Vette has a button on the switch assembly that you can only get to by dropping the entire drivers dashpad including speedo and tach. The knob and shaft are one piece and separated from the switch body. 88 Vette has a small clip behind the knob and the shaft remains with the switch body. It sounds like you bought a knob from a C3 not a C4!

By the way, welcome to the CAC!

I have had the rod out before when I was doing the wood grain dash thing..

All I did was pull.

The end of the rod you'll see has a groove cut in it that a retainer clip slips into (In the switch). Its just a matter of wiggling and pulling.
